JULY ON THE ROAD: From Fireworks to Freedom!
Share
Wow — July was nothing short of miraculous. From wild fireworks weeks to Spirit-filled street ministry, from heartfelt meals with friends to recovery celebrations, we’ve seen God move in powerful, personal ways all month long.
🚐 Safe Travels & Sweet Setups
We started the month rolling into California, safe and sound — praise God! Our amazing home church in Woodland welcomed us with open arms and even installed an RV electrical hookup so we could stay while in town. It was the perfect launching pad for all God had in store.
🎆 "Hell Week" — Fireworks Booth & Divine Appointments
Then came what we affectionately call “Hell Week” — our annual fireworks booth in Sacramento. This year we had a new location, which brought some surprises (and lots of stretching), but we pushed through — living in our truck and our daughter’s SUV, bird-bathing and battery-hunting through the week.
But let us tell you — the discomfort was worth it. We got to pray over customers, share our testimonies, and speak the name of Jesus boldly with people who just came to buy fireworks. One highlight? A retired Marine and police officer, now a TSA dog handler, who bought our biggest box — and we got to pray over him and his family right there in the booth.
We also reunited with so many beloved faces: Lisa Marie, Melanie and Ken Toft, Ron Freeman (who even brought us a home-cooked meal!), Bella Rose, Shannon and Tornado Jones, my baby brother Donovan and his beautiful wife Christina, Chris and his wife, and many more. Your support made the entire week worth every challenge. Thank you. We also got to celebrate our lil guys 3rd birthday on the 4th as well as get quality time with our lil littles and our big littles THANK YOU JESUS!
🌃 Prayers in the Streets of Vallejo
On July 11th, we joined forces with Broken Chains Motorcycle Ministry and over 14 churches in Vallejo to walk the streets and pray over women in sex work.
No photos were taken — only love, respect, and intercession.
My heart broke. Many of these women were so young, so broken, and so precious. I’ve been there. I know what it’s like to climb into strangers' cars, convinced you deserve the pain. But these women are not throwaways — they are God’s daughters.
Let’s stop judging what we don’t understand. Sex trafficking often looks like compliance, not chains — worn down by trauma, by pimps, or by pain.
“He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners.”
— Isaiah 61:1
Please pray for them. They matter.
🏠 Ministry Back Where It All Began
On July 9th, we had the joy of revisiting A House, a recovery center in Del Paso Heights — my old neighborhood — with Billy and Hope More. Walking back into that space was powerful. Recovery isn't a one-time thing — it’s a lifestyle of walking hand in hand with Jesus.
Then, on July 13th, we visited Shingle Town Church for Sunday service. Y’all — what a Holy Spirit-filled, Jesus-loving, truth-telling church! We were so blessed to worship there and gain more family in the Kingdom.
🌿 Anderson Community & Celebrate Recovery Nights
Later that week, we headed north to Anderson Community Church — our home away from home! We parked in a breathtaking spot beside the community garden that Misty Niles and others tend to help feed those in need.
The hospitality? Next level. From Mexican dinner with Darrin and Misty Niles, to home-cooked meals from Robert and Anita McCullough (that salsa 😍), our spirits were filled as much as our bellies!
Friday night, we celebrated at Red Bluff Celebrate Recovery’s Birthday Night — with Andrew performing and stories of victory ringing out. Shout-out to Ron Freeman for leading such a beautiful ministry and to our friend Lea Lord, who received her 5-year chip (shared with permission!). 🎉
Saturday brought even more powerful healing at Celebrate Recovery at Anderson Community, where Pastor Darrin leads a space for deep transformation and grace. The night was full of music, testimonies, and freedom.
And on Sunday, Andrew led worship and Pastor Darrin and I shared a word with our Anderson family. It felt like coming home.
👶 Back to Woodland & Blessings at Ludy's
We returned to Woodland that Monday, and Tuesday — I was back in my happy place: watching my grand-littles! YYYAAAYYYYY!! 🥰
To wrap up the month, we shared a delicious meal with our friend Stephan Chaudhry at Ludy’s on East Main Street. If you haven’t been — go! The food was amazing, the service phenomenal, and the fellowship unforgettable.
“The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.”
— Psalm 126:3
God showed up in parking lots, pulpits, recovery rooms, and restaurants. He moved through laughter, through prayer, through late-night conversations and worship sets under the stars.
We are so grateful for every person we got to hug, pray with, worship beside, and share life with in July.
August… you’ve got big shoes to fill!
